Community Governor
Subject responsibility: Safeguarding & Computing
I was elected as a Parent Governor in 2012 and have since taken responsibility for Safeguarding and Safer Recruitment. My drive to become a parent governor came after my children started the Infants School and through their enthusiasm and love for school I could see very quickly just how wonderful a place Perryfields Infants is.
Richard Carson
Community Governor
Subject Responsibility: Health and Safety
I am Richard Carson, Married with 2 Girls, I have been appointed as a Governor representing the County Council and I link subject is Science. Outside of being a Governor, I am a Bell Ringer at All Saints Church and regularly ring for the services. It is a pleasure being involved with Perryfields Infants School where there is always a good buzz round the school with the Children and staff.
Ken Cocksedge
Community Governor
Subject responsibility: Stretch & Challenge & Literacy
I have worked as a local government accountant in the Education and Police sectors for 38 years before retiring as the Essex Police Finance Director in 2013. I have lived with my wife Jayne in Springfield since 1985 and our 3 children all attended Perryfields before going onto Boswells and subsequently to University education. I am now supporting my wife's new business in Broomfield running a private pre-school nursery setting. I was briefly a Perryfields Governor some years ago, but have recently returned to offer my support for the school, with a particular interest in the school's financial management.
Amanda Reid
Headteacher
I have been a governor at Perryfields Infants School for eight years. I am passionate about making sure that the governors, teachers and parents work together to create a great school and community for our children. With 20 years+’ experience in schools I have been a nursery nurse, class teacher, senior leader, deputy headteacher and headteacher and I have loved every second of it. It is a great privilege when parents entrust their children into our school. I live in the local Springfield Community and as a mother of a young spirited boy I strongly believe that we must develop the whole child and provide the best educational experiences possible for all our children to thrive.
Cathy Champion
Deputy Head
Staff Governor - responsibility Training
I have taught at Perryfields Infant School since 2014 and have been a teacher since 2003, having previously been a solicitor in a top city firm. As the mother of 3 children, who all thrived at school and are currently engaged in university education, I am passionate about ensuring the precious infant school years are memorable and fun, as well as equipping children with the skills they will need to become happy adults and lifelong learners. Out of school, I enjoy gardening at my allotment and writing poetry.
Emily Thurlow
Parent Governor
Subject responsibility: Pupil Premium, Sports Premium, PE & Music
I have been appointed to the governing body as a parent governor and I am very much looking forward to being a part of shaping the journey of our children and the school. I am married with 2 children and my eldest daughter currently attends Perryfields Infant School, I have been delighted with the provision she has been given so far. Through the role I hope to help the school to continue to provide excellence in education and help to build relationships between the parents and the school. I currently work as a Finance Officer at a local primary school which means I can bring specialist knowledge and skills to the governing body, which I believe can help in several ways. As a parent governor I am hoping to work in the best interests of the school, but to balance this with a natural desire to see the best outcomes for all students that attend Perryfields Infant School.

I am local to Springfield; going to Boswell School and then reading Law at Anglia Polytechnic University. I have worked as a Further Education Lecturer in Law and Business since 2003; currently at Chelmsford College. I believe that I bring enthusiasm, commitment and drive to the role along with transferable skills from my knowledge of Further Education and Law.
Leanne Fuller
Community Governor
Subject responsibility: SEND, PSHE/RE & ART/DT and Safeguarding
I volunteered to become a Community Governor when my son started at the school and knowing that my daughter will follow a few years on. I've always worked in the area of young people and youth impact and do currently for a children's charity so opportunities to support and contribute are something I actively like to take on. It's been fantastic watching my son learn and grow in his time at Perryfields and seeing the development before my very eyes. I hope to be able to offer something to support the school in doing what they do so well.
Tom Brown
Parent Governor
Subject responsibility: Music, SEND, RE/PSHE & Training Governor
I've been a Parent Governor since 2022, not long after my daughter started at Perryfields. With two boys joining in September 2024, I'm keen to support the school as best I can, for the sake of all our pupils. My subject responsibilities as a governor are Music and RE/PSHE - the former seemed a natural fit for me, as the son of two music teachers and a choir singer myself! I'm also a member of Chelmsford Cathedral and a strong believer in the important of RE/PSE for pupils of all faiths and none. In my day-to-day life I work in the legal profession, helping doctors who are under investigation of various kinds.
Bonnie Vincent
Community Governor

My name is Bonnie Vincent, and I was appointed as a Community Governor in 2024. I was inspired to take on this role when my eldest daughter started at Perryfields Infant School, where I gained a deeper appreciation for the vital role schools play in shaping children's lives. With over a decade of experience supporting children and families, I bring a strong understanding of both the challenges and opportunities within education. In my current role in Quality Assurance, I have developed key analytical skills, a keen eye for detail, and a commitment to implementing effective strategies for continuous improvement. I am passionate about creating a positive, inclusive and nurturing school environment where every child can thrive.
